Beauty Buzz Trial - Hempz Body Care

Hey Beauty Bees,

Welcome to a new series I am starting called the Beauty Buzz Trials. I will be doing reviews on different products such as makeup, hair products, nail products and body care products. Sometimes I will do trials on Brands as a whole, or a new product line they have come out with. Also at the end of every Beauty Trial, I will rate the product or brand out of 5 Beauty Bees, 1 Bee being not so good and 5 being amazing.

This week on trial will be the brand Hempz Body Care. All there products contain Pure Natural Hemp Seed Oil, which protects and conditions the skin. Some people will see the word hemp or look at the logo and be a little reluctant to try it out, but there is no reason to worry. After taking a quick look at the company's website this is what I learned. "Hemp has been used for thousands of years to make a variety of items, including paper, rope, medicines and ships’ sails. In today’s eco-conscious landscape, Hemp is more prevalent than ever. It is a key ingredient in products for hair care and skin care. Hemp also is used for many other applications such as textiles, food, clothing and biodiesel fuel. Industrial Hemp has no illegal uses and is cultivated for commercial use throughout most of the world. It contains no THC."

*Disclaimer- I am not being paid to write this review however I was sent these product samples free from the Hempz Body Care Company. All opinions are my own and are based on my personal experience and liking of the products.

So let's get started.....

I received five different lotions, two body wash/lotion sets and two shampoo/conditioner sets. (Yes, in the above picture there is one opened product. I got very excited to try a certain lotion and do so the second I opened the mail package. )

Hempz Original Herbal Body Moisturizer 500x500Hempz Pomegranate Herbal Body Moisturizer 500x500Hempz Age Defying Herbal Body Moisturizer 500x500Hempz Vanilla Plum Herbal Body Moisturizer 500x500Citrus Blossom Herbal Body Moisturizer 500x500

Every time I have walked through an Ulta Store, I always stop by the body care section and use the tester of Hempz Vanilla Plum Lotion. This lotion smells absolutely amazing!! Vanilla is a hard smell to master when it comes to lotions or body washes and Hempz definitely nailed it.The only reason I have not yet bought it myself is because of the massive collection of body care products that I've sworn to use up before buying anymore.

Every one of these lotions smell and feel amazing. They go on smoothly and seeped into the skin well, no greasy feeling afterwards. They are very moisturizing and kept my skin feeling just that, all day long. You also do not need to use a lot at a time; one little packet covered my legs, arms and chest; Just imagine how long a single bottle could last. I would highly recommend any of these lotions. They also have many more different scents, as well as types of lotion such as whipped shimmer cremes.

Fresh Coconut & Watermelon Nourishing Herbal Body Wash-500x500Triple Moisture Herbal Whipped Creme Body Wash 500x500

These next couple products are the body washes I got to test out. At first the combination of coconut and watermelon together did not appeal to me, but boy was I proven wrong. The second I ripped open that product sample I was hooked. It smelt AMAZING!! I wanted to stay in the shower for days with the aroma that was in the air, but along with the smell, the lather and texture was awesome. Some other body washes just feel greasy and the scent only lasts a little while. These soaps felt very soft and smooth while making me feel very clean afterwards, the scent lasting all day. The triple moisture body wash did exactly what the name said. I used this when I was out in the sun a lot that day, so I felt that my skin was a little dry. After using it, my skin felt so smooth and moisturized even without the lotion that went with this one.

Finally, the shampoo and conditioner sets. I was not able to find the links to these products, however I know they sell them in Ulta Stores. Both sets had very thick product but once you started working it into wet hair it was very easy to work with. It made my hair feel so smooth and soft. I was able to easily brush through it afterwards with no tangles. There wasn't a very distinctive scent, but that didn't concern me since I was too obsessed with the body wash of that day (above's coconut/watermelon). The next day my hair still looked and felt very clean, surprisingly since my second day hair can get pretty oily which is why i'm addicted with dry shampoos. I will definitely be picking up these products next time I am in the market for some new hair care.

Overall, I was pretty impressed with Hempz Body Care. All products did exactly what they said they were suppose to do while smelling amazing at the same time.

Beauty Bee Rating: 4.5/5

Remaster Your Little Black Dress

Hey Beauty Bees,
Everybody has that one wardrobe staple that they've worn over and over again, a little black dress. You've matched it with a different pair of shoes, or a different hairstyle; but what if there was a way to make that dress look like something completely new, using items that are already in your closet.
I got this black sundress from Forever 21 for only 10 dollars.
I am going to show you 6 different ways to style this plain black sundress.

In this outfit I just added a sleeveless button down blouse but tied it just below the bust. Great way to emphasis the tiniest part of your waist. Choose a shirt that has some details on it, like this one has lace along the sides and studs on the collar. It will add a little extra excitement to the outfit without having to add any accessories. Pick out some cute sandals and this outfit would be perfect for a day out with your friends or significant other.
This one is basically the same as above but with sleeves. I went for more of a country theme here, throw on some cowboy boots and a cowboy hat and you ready for any concert that involves Luke Bryan or Tim McGraw.
I went for a more Bohemian look with this outfit. This made me think of some of the dresses I always see at Free People, with the two styled layered look (displayed on the right). All you need to do is find a loose flowy tank top that will fit over top the dress. I choose my favorite sunflower tank, which is seeming to be the print of the summer. You can even add 2 tank tops of different lengths to add dimension, but id suggest going with very light materials as it could get very warm. Keep in mind the patterns you are matching together because you still want it to flow seamlessly, as if it is one dress.
This outfit is all about the accessories. I belted the dress to give it more structure and then added a sparkly necklace and ring. All you need to do is add some high heels and you got yourself an outfit for a dinner date or special night out. If you were to up play your hair and makeup as well, this outfit could even be fancy enough for a wedding.
I toned down the accessories in this outfit to fit a more casual event, like a movie or lunch date. The cardigan is what helps give this outfit the more casual look. Since you got a neutral colored dress, have some fun and add a colorful cardigan or accessory like I did with the necklace. Tone down the jewelry and this would be a perfect outfit for a job interview in a professional setting.
This is the ultimate casual comfy outfit. Pick any cropped or graphic tee that you like and throw it over top the dress. You now just turned it into a skirt. Add some simple jewelry and flip flops and your ready to run errands or grab some lunch with friends.
This final outfit is my favorite. Perfect for those more chilly summer nights out at the beach or bonfire. Just pop any loose long sleeve shirt or sweater over your dress and your ready for the night. If you still want to show off your dress but stay warm, pick a more cropped sweater that has a wider neck hole so your can wear it off the shoulder.
A simple black dress can work for any occasion, you just need to look in your closet and see what you can come up with.

Makeup Tips for Hot Summer Days

Just as the seasons change from warm spring to hot summer, your makeup routine will need to change with it. I was always scared of my face melting in the heat throughout the day. My foundation and eye shadow creasing, mascara running down my face and my lips looking devilish from melted colors. Having oily skin also makes this a huge challenge since I do not want to look like a big grease ball half way thru my day. Over the past summers, I have molded my summer makeup into a routine that is melt-free and stays put all day. Here are some of the tips I use.

1. Primers - I can not stress enough how important this is. Just like you would prime your walls to get the color to stick to it and look smooth, you want to do the same thing on your face and eyes. Face primers will keep your foundation in place and help give you that flawless canvas you want. Eyelid primers like Urban Decay Primer Potion are a gift to the eyes. They will make your eye shadow go on smoothly and not crease, as well as keep the eye look you took so much time to create stay put until you decide it is time to come off.

2. Foundation - Although I love my foundations, they are too heavy for summer time. To get that coverage still without the feeling of a layer of makeup on your skin, I would try a tinted moisturizers instead. They are lighter on the skin but still give you a good amount of coverage and even if it isn't enough, just use a light concealer to spot conceal any blemishes or areas that need a little extra coverage. This step will keep your face from looking cakey on steamy days. Almost every makeup brand now has there own tinted moisturizers but my personal favorites are from Maybelline and Pacifica.

3. Powder - To keep yourself from looking shiny, I always use pressed powder on my t-zone and any other areas that tend to get oily. If you don't like the color of powder on your skin, or have a hard time matching it to your skin or foundation, just grab a translucent powder, it does the same job without adding any color to your face. Another great way to keep yourself from getting oily is by using a setting spray designed for oily skin. Urban Decays De-Slick Oil-Control Makeup Setting Spray is my secret weapon. I just spray it in an X over my finished makeup and it keeps my makeup stay put all day while keeping away the shine. Don't worry, this spray doesn't make your face sticky at all! They have a travel size as well which is perfect to keep in your purse to use if you feel that you need to freshen up.
T-Zone
4. Oil blotting sheets - Some days no matter how much spray or powder I use, the humidity wins and my mirror-ball of a face lights up. Another secret weapon that I probably could not live without are oil blotting sheets. One sheet lightly blotted along your t-zone and then any other shiny areas works wonders. These are great since they don't take any of your makeup off, then just do a quick swipe of powder and your good as new. Important advice: Never powder a shiny face before blotting, unless you want to look cakey. The moisture on your face will not mix well with the powder.

5. Blush - Blush is one of my favorite summery products, since you can start using the brighter pinks and corals that we put away in fall. Nothing makes me happier then a fun, bright cheek color. I have learned over the years that I was constantly reapplying my powder blush half way thru the day since it seemed to come off, so I switched to cream blush. It lasted the full day and looked way better, just use your fingers to dab it on and build it up to your desired look. Quick Fix: Don't have a cream blush, grab your favorite lipstick and just dot it along your cheekbones and blend well. Want a sun kissed look? Swap your blush for a more subdued bronzer and swipe that across your cheeks, just don't get bronzer happy or you will look muddy instead of bronzed.

6. Mascara - Waterproof mascaras are not only for weddings and funerals. The formulas over the years have gotten much better and most brands of mascara come in both regular and waterproof. Yours doesn't? First, that's a crime to makeup and second just grab a waterproof one and use it on the tips of your lashes over your favorite regular one. Between coats give your lashes a minute or so to dry so you can really build them up instead of just taking off and putting back on what you've already done. Personally, I use Benefits They're Real Mascara then put a layer of Maybelline's Great Lash Waterproof. This will get you through that day at the beach or that fun pool party.

7. Brow Gel - Eyebrows tend to get crazy looking during summer activities so use a brow gel to keep them in place throughout the day. A little goes a long way with this product so use a light hand. To keep the amount of products down and quicken your morning routine, pick up a tinted brow gel in your color which will take away the extra step of using a brow pencil to fill in sparse areas. Just a quick swipe thru each and your ready to go.

8. Lips - Since heavy lip colors are too much during this time of year, many women typically go for clear balm or skip their lips altogether. Just because you're feeling low-maintenance doesn't mean you have to look it. A simple swipe-and-go choice: tinted lip balms. Maybelline Babylips are a great choose since they come in so many colors and contain SPF which is an added bonus. Another option I love are lip stains. This gives you the color of lipsticks with no stick or mess to worry, also they last for the entire day. Most brands have gotten into creating lip stains so you will have no trouble finding some at the drugstore.

Maybelline Baby Lips

9. SPF- Don't forget sunscreen!! Luckily, a lot of products such as tinted moisturizers and lip balms are being made with SPF built in, but the content is low so don't forget to top off.

10. Color - Remember to have fun with you makeup. Summer time is all about bright colors. Try swapping your regular black eyeliner for a blue or teal color, or use a colored mascara on the tips of your lashes. Instead of that nude lip try a hot pink or daring bright orange; you can always go for a sheer shade if its too intense for you. Just remember to balance out your looks. Colorful eyes go well with a nude lip and vice versa, bright lip with a nude eye.

Summer time is all about going out and enjoying the warm weather but that doesn't mean you can't still look good while doing it.

A Not So Awkward Topic...Panties

Underwear. That was the answer I got from my Fiance this morning when I asked him what topic I should write about next. At first I laughed and blew off the idea, thinking he was joking, until I faced him and saw the convinced look on his face. The man who I have to drag with full force to just walk into a store that has panties in the vicinity. The man who literally repels Victoria Secret when we walk by it. This same man telling me to write about garments women wear underneath there clothing.

It isn't just men though. Some women act the same way when it comes to their own underwear. They shy away from places like Victoria Secret or La Senza just because they don't want other people to know what they are going to buy, or worse, wear. There is no reason to be ashamed for picking up a thong or g-string instead of the "safe appropriate" choose of a classic brief. It is all just a big stereotype that certain panties or certain bras describes a persons personality or their actions.

Over the years underwear has definitely changed from its more "proper" look but the purpose has stayed the same. Every type of panty was made for a reason. It is the women's responsibility to figure out what type is right for their body type, comfort and event. For example, a thong or g-string is the best choice for a slim fitting dress because they produce no panty lines. But what about all the other kinds. How do they fit? What are there purpose? Don't worry, I got you covered.

The most basic panty style is the brief which rises just below the navel, and has full coverage in the back. From here there are three types of briefs:

  • Classic (or full brief)- features sides that extend below the hip.
  • High-cut (or French cut brief)- sides that are somewhat narrower.
  • Control  (or control panties)- usually contains a stretch material such as spandex and may extend above the waist, designed to offer support while giving a slimmer appearance. Can even be found with a thong styled back.
These are not a personal favorite for me for everyday but are a great choice for someone who wants ultimate comfort. I do however suggest control panties for anybody who is feeling subconscious about there body. Personally, I find them handy during weddings when I am wearing a dress since they smooth everything out and now a days they are made without the uncomfortable boning so many older generations cringe at.

The next pair are boy shorts, which are styled like men's briefs and may have short legs extending below the crotch. These are my choice for the perfect workout panty since they don't ride up and are super comfy. When made in the right material such as spandex, elastane or rayon, they can fit and stretch under any workout clothing and move well with your body throughout any workout. Also these materials wick away sweat much better then any others. Another reason they’re great? Coverage. Surprisingly great under skirts and dresses, or anything with a more flowy fabric. If you’re wearing a skirt on a windy day, wouldn't you rather be wearing booty shorts than anything smaller?!

Hipster
Bikini

Hipsters and Bikinis have a similar style. Both sit at hip and have less coverage in the back then a brief, however bikini's side sections are a bit narrower. Both are in my arsenal of everyday "go-to" panties. They fit perfectly under jeans, pants, and your favorite skirts, with more coverage than a thong but less than a boy short. They are perfect for everyday activities no matter what your agenda has planned.

Tangas provide a moderate to minimal coverage with back coverage that is more than a thong but narrower than a bikini, with a very narrow waistband. Tangas are not a favorite at all for me. Since they are dead set in the middle of a bikini and thong they can tend to get uncomfortable since you want them to basically just pick a side. Of course it is totally up to your own comfort and body type I just personally shy away from this style

Thong
G-String

Now our last two "scandalous"choices, thongs and g-strings. Both waistbands similar to tangas, but the rear coverage is mostly cut away, becoming wider towards the top for thongs. G-string are just a vertical string at the back connecting crotch to waistband. These last two options are great for when you want to eliminate those pesky panty lines. A nude thong is as basic and essential as you can get. It’s a must for dressy events, or wearing under a pair of white or light-colored pants or leggings because with see thru fabrics, panty lines is not the most important thing on your mind. A lot of women shy away from thongs or g-strings since they feel uncomfortable with them on. In return, i'd suggest trying lace thongs. They literally feel like nothing! These thongs lie perfectly flat against your skin, almost blending into it giving you the utmost comfort. As you can probably imagine, they work well under just about everything.

Next time your out shopping for panties, don't forget to have fun. Also, never let the reason of nobody else seeing them keep you from picking out something wild or fun. Luxurious underwear can make you feel pretty, sassy, and flirty all at once! Pick your favorite cuts, then get a few pairs in prints, patterns, neon, or even as a part of a matching set. Fun lingerie is an instant pick-me-up, and a secret shot of confidence – even if you’re wearing sweats, you’ll feel glamorous and sexy knowing you have something fabulous on underneath. So have fun and work it, girls!

Summer Beach Bag Must Haves

Hy
Summer is finally here and as the temperature rises and sun's UV rays get stronger, it can only mean one thing. It is time to head to that wonderful place with all the warm sand and that cool, refreshing water. This summer, the beach will definitely be one of my favorite places to spend my time, but what do I bring with me. Here is my summer beach bag must have checklist.

  1. Cute beach bag - You will need a tote bag that is big enough to hold everything you will need, but always remember that you can make a fashion statement with your accessories. You can always use a backpack as well.
  2. Tote Beach Travel Tote Bag Water Resistant
This bag is water resistant and has many handy compartments to keep yourself organized. (Amazon $12.99)
This is a more brighter option and will definitely stand out against that beach sand. It is see thru so it is much easier to dig into and find what you need. (Victoria Secret Pink $34.50)
  3. Bathing Suit - Unless you are going to be swimming in your clothes, this is a necessary item. Now a days there are so many different options for bathing suits: one piece or two piece; tankini, bandeau or triangle top; bikini, high waisted or boy short bottom. You can mix or match pieces. The combinations are endless so have some fun with it.
  4. One Piece with animal print fringe. Great detail for someone with a smaller chest looking to add definition and creates the illusion of volume. (Victoria Secret Pink $49.95)
      Twist%20Bandeau%20%26amp%3B%20Banded%20Hipster
A more classic style of bathing suit. Solid color pieces are a great staple since they can mix and match with other patterned pieces. (Delia's $15 a piece)
  5. Towel - Now I have experienced forgetting a towel when heading to the beach and trust me, sitting on sand is not comfortable. You can use any towel you like but always remember to shake it out before leaving because you do not want to bring the beach home with you, well not the messy part of it.
Towels with beachy designs are my favorite. (Amazon $29.99)
  6. Sunglasses- Another great way to accessorize while out to the beach, while still having a purpose of protecting those eyes. Even the prescription glasses wearers out there (such as myself) can still be able to wear sunglasses whether you choose a prescription set or specially designed pairs that can fit comfortable right over your regular pair.
  7. GA4565 Retro Vintage Oversized Frame Fashion Sunglasses - Black - Pink Smoke Lens
A classic style suitable for everyone. (Amazon $11.99)
DG Sun Glasses with XXL DG Hard with one Case Black
      A more stylish pair. ($19.95)
  8. Sunscreen - You will enjoy your day at the beach but without this next product, your next few days will not be so enjoyable. Everybody wants that perfect tan but you do not want to leave looking like a tomato. Depending on your skin of course, 30-50 SPF is usually high enough, but always remember to reapply if needed especially if your in the water.
  9. Banana Boat Ultramist Sport Performance Sunscreen Clear SPF 30, 6 Ounce
This has been my favorite brand for sunscreen forever. Also sprays or mists are much more user friendly. (Amazon $5.94)
  10. Evian Spray - Now this is a personal favorite. I have never been a person who could handle immense heat so this product was a savior when I first found it. It is a mineral water mist spray for your face. It is a great way to feel refreshed at the beach or anywhere else when that hot sun has got you feeling gross. It is also a great product to use with a full face of makeup as it helps keep your makeup stay put when you feel that your face has started to "melt".
  11. Evian Spray
    (Amazon $4.51)
  12. Sea Salt Spray - This is a must have for any after beach plans. After swimming, your hair always comes out with the most gorgeous curls and waves that girls will spend hours in front of a mirror with curling irons to replicate. This one product helps enhance and seals in those curls to last throughout the entire day. Not Your Mothers Beach Babe Texturizing Sea Salt Spray. All you need is a few spritzes and tousle hair for some amazing waves.
  13. Not Your Mother's Beach Babe Texturizing Sea Salt Spray -- 8 fl oz
    (Amazon $7.94)
  14. Hair Brush - You might need this to help out your hair situation if you choose not to use a product such as above.
  15. Hat - Another great way to accessorize while still having a purpose to protect your precious heads from those UV rays. Also, a way to tame hair if you forget items 7 and 8. Do you prefer the more structured style hats or is floppy the way to your heart?
  16. Big Beautiful Solid Color Floppy Hat, Black
Floppy Beach Hat, Comes in 12 different colors, (Amazon $2.50)
    Fedora (Charlotte Russe $9.99)
  17. Entertainment - Magazines. Books. Ipod. Cellphone. Anything that you can do while you lay on your towel and take in the sun. Football. Volleyball. badminton rackets. For those athletic beach goers who like to work up a sweat before jumping into the water. Shovels and pail. For those who are creative and are still kids at heart. Or just for the boys who enjoy digging really big holes.
Heading out to the beach now? Don't forget to grab your bag and fill it with everything you will need. Have fun and don't forget to be safe!!
