The Halloween Tag

Happy Halloween Beauty Bees!!
Today is the day of ghosts and witches, candy and chocolates, tricks or treats. No matter what you are doing today whether dressing up and going trick or treating, going to a party or just staying home and enjoying the night, make sure you are staying safe and having a good time. I found this tag online so I figured I would take a shot at it. I tag all bloggers who love Halloween!!

What’s your first memory of Halloween?
My first Halloween memory is of throwing a tantrum because of my older brother and sister going out trick or treating really late with my Dad, where as I was not able to go since I was really young. My mom would take me out earlier before it got dark but they always got so much more candy then me. :(

What's your favorite memory of Halloween?
When I use to go trick or treating the last stop would always be my grandparents house, which was just around the corner from my house. My grandma always bought little bags of chips or small chocolate bars for regular trick or treaters but she always got us grand kids a couple full size chocolate bars and always snuck in some money into our bags with it.

What are your plans for Halloween this year?
Tonight Chris and I will be enjoying a night in watching Halloween movies and eating candy until we are in sugar comas. :) I am really hoping Hocus Pocus or Halloween town is on since they are some of our favorite movies.

What do you love most about Halloween?
I love the decorations, especially when people go all out with their houses. It is nice seeing people still being festive and fun even with a holiday like Halloween. In my neighborhood there has been alot of decorating and it looks great.

What age did you stop trick-or-treating?
I think I was in grade 10 when I stopped trick or treating, although I am a kid at heart and think there is never an age we should stop.

Favorite Halloween Costume you have ever been?
I remember when I was younger and I wanted to be a witch for Halloween really bad. It was the day before and my mom could not find a witches costume anywhere so she came home and spent all night and the day after making me a costume. She even made me a broom and hat to go with it. It was the best costume I had ever had.

Favorite Halloween Candy?
This is hard questions since I love chocolate and candy so I am going to split it up. Favorite chocolate bar is Almond Joy. Favorite candy is Twizzlers or candy corn. Also although it is not candy, I love candy apples.

Once again Happy Halloween Beauty Bees!! What did you dress up as today? Let me know below or tweet me a picture of it at @leepoe1

My Top 3 Body Lotion Brands

Hey Beauty Bees,

Today I started to notice how dry my skin was getting from the cold air of Fall. This is the time of year that my body lotion collection starts to dwindle down since I start to use it more then any other time of the year. Out of the many different brands there are three that stand out the most. The first one is a brand that I have just recently tried and the other two are from brands that I have known forever and have always loved.

Here are my top 3:

Beauty Buzz Trial - Soap Diamond

Hey Beauty Bees,

I think I have fallen in love with this new "subscription box". I am not actually sure if that is what I should call it since it is not a monthly box, but still a really cool item you can order online.

Soap Diamond is this cool site that sends you this awesome heart shaped anti-bacterial soap. The exciting part about it is that in the middle of every soap is a ring valued between $5 and $500, the fun part being that you have no clue what ring or its value that you will be getting until you get to the middle. It is like Christmas!! Another great thing is that every ring has an adjustable band so every ring will fit any size finger.

The cost of this awesome gift for a loved one or yourself is only $14.99. Personally, I think it would make the best gift for Valentines Day or a great stocking stuffer.

Here is what came in my box. At first I saw this gorgeous bright pink heart soap that smelt extremely strong of perfumey roses which I was not hating but definitely not my favorite scent. I will admit I only used it once before I sawed through it to figure out what ring I got. I am like a child meaning I have absolutely no patience when it comes to waiting for a hidden surprise. Of course, I was hoping for the $500 ring but I was still happy with what I ended up with.

With great sadness, the news that a former fashion icon, Oscar de la Renta, has passed away. He had been diagnosed with cancer in 2006 and on October 20, 2014 De la Renta died of complications at the age of 82.

From fashion to fragrances to even housewares, de la Renta has been around the design world and back; Working with other established brands like Elizabeth Arden, Jane Derby and House of Balmain. He also has many prestigious awards under his belt such as two Coty Awards, two American Fashion Critics Awards, two time Council of Fashion Designers Designer of the Year Award and  CFDA Lifetime Achievement Award.

Some other incredible life time achievements made by him are:

He has also said some amazing words toward woman and fashion. These two being my favorite:

I could go on and on about him and how much I love his work but the best way would be to show you. Here is a tribute to one of my absolute favorite fashion designers to walk this planet...Oscar de la Renta.

Guest Post - Frost-Bitten Ice Queen Halloween Tutorial by Shanna

Hello there my fellow beautistas :)

My name is Shanna from My Curves and Lashes blog. Thank you so much Linda for allowing me to guestpost so near to Halloween! I love this time of year since boring makeup tutorials can be amped up with much more imagination, inspired-looks and ideas to share. Aren't you guys excited? I know I am!
I've been feeling the cold here in London so I decided to actually make a costume out of it, the ideas people come up with ey... I chose to do a look on a Frost-Bitten Ice Queen. Rather than the common flawless, Ice queen with jewels and sparkle, I opted for something a bit more realistic.

Let's Get Started!

THE FACE

I used SNAZAROO Face Paint in white.

The contour was with the shade Proposal in Prague on the hollows of my cheeks and Pretty in Paris for my highlight.

I cut pieces of foil to and used eyelash glue to stick on my forehead for an icier look. This step is optional and may be a bit too much for this look already.

THE EYES

All eyeshadow products was used by my favourite (and only palette) SLEEK i-Divine eyeshadow Palette in Vintage Romance.

Shades used:
  • Romance in Rome
  • Love in London
  • Pretty in Paris
  • Propose in Prague
  • Forever in Florence
(Don't you just love the names?)

Everything has been roughly shaded for a "cracked" and bitter look. This adds the effect of decay which is definitely the outcome I was hoping for.

STEP 1
Blend Forever in Florence on the top inner-lid and the bottom-outer corner of you eye. Feel free to shade higher than your crease, and YES! You may enhance those bags by shading lower than your lash line.

STEP 2
Oppositely, Blend Romance in Rome on the inner-lash line and in the crease.

STEP 3
For a bigger dramatic effect, with Propose in Prague and a bit of red eyeshadow, blend and enhance the bottom of your eyes, sweeping as low as where you would usually see an eye bag form.

STEP 4
With a black eyeliner, messily trace your eyebrow. Remember you've been out in the snow so you eyebrow does not need to be perfect :)

Line your eyes with your favourite eyeliner and create those dolly eyes with full lashes on top and at the bottom I also used mascara to blend my actual lashes and the fake ones together, it also adds for extra definition.

THE NOSE

Take the colours down to the bridge of you nose to contour. I mixed both Romance in Rome and Forever in Florence with a blending brush.

THE LIPS
  1. With a brush pat on some  of the gorgeous Romance in Rome shadow to the centre of your lips, be as messy as you want. I also overlined for a dolly effect.
  2. Take Rpopose in Prague with a bit of red eyeshadow to fill the sides.

And that's it! Thank you so much Linda for allowing me to guestpost. I love this time of season, not only for the Autumn weather and colours, but also a reason/excuse to dress up as literally ANYTHING for Halloween :) I hope you guys like it. Please check out more of my Halloween tutorials here.

Here is an in depth description and my review of each product I tried.

Beauty Buzz Trial - Ipsy Bag October 2014 "Beauty Candy"

Hey Beauty Bees,

It is mid October and it is the time where many Ipsy Bag reviews go viral. I am no different and will be talking about the different products I received in my bag. If you have not heard of this monthly beauty subscription take a look at this past post for more info.

This month the theme was "Beauty Candy". I was so excited to hear this since I love beauty and who doesn't love candy. Also it goes well with it being the month of Halloween. With every sneak peek that came out this month, I got more and more excited for this bag since there were so many different products that I had heard of before but never tried. Four out of the five brands I got I had never tried before and the one I had, has the best products!!

One of my favorite parts of this subscription is the make up bag that comes with it. The bag for this month was a teal blue quilted looking bag, giving off a very retro inspired look to it The inside was the same color, making it a very plain bag. I do not like the side opening though. I have a couple bags like these and it is harder to get products in and out, especially since you lose a whole inch on the top to work with.
